FrogTape Multi-Surface Painter’s Tape Green Review

In all projects, big or small, one of the secrets of success is the preparation. You do not just get into starting a project without planning how to start and execute it.

This goes the same when doing painting projects. There are steps which you have to follow to prepare the surface and the tools.

We often think that in this kind of project, the only ones that matter is the paint and applicator (whether brush, roller, or spray).

However, we often forget that there are other tools which are necessary for painting projects. One of these tools is the painter's tape.

Why Use a Painter’s Tape?

Purpose

As compared to other types of masking adhesion, painter’s tape is specially designed for painting applications. It ensures that removal will be made clean after use.

It is also designed with protection from direct UV light, making it useful for outdoor painting jobs.

Typically, a painter’s adhesive is also intentionally made to stick on different kinds of surfaces, from glass to painted walls.

Protect other surfaces

Before you begin painting, make sure you protect untargeted surfaces from possible drips and splashes. This is particularly possible especially if you are painting a ceiling.

To protect other items and surfaces like floors and furniture, you can drape your furniture with old bed sheets and cover floors with plastic sheets.

However, while painting, these covers can shift and inadvertently expose the edges of furniture or leaving spots on floors.

To prevent this from happening, keep your covers safe and in place by securing them with a painter’s tape.

Achieve crisp lines

Painters adhesive can be used as a guide to keep lines straight and protect surfaces from getting spotted with the wrong color. This way your output will be crispy and sharp lines that are complementary to your goal.

PaintBlock® Technology

FrogTape® painter’s tapes are the only adhesives designed with PaintBlock® Technology. This technology makes use of a super-absorbent polymer which reacts with latex paint.

It also instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, which in effect prevents paint bleed and lessens the need for touch-ups.

The results of using this technology are crisp and clean paint lines on the first time. This feature is also designed to prevent paint bleed.

FrogTape® canister

Each roll of this painter’s adhesive comes in a reusable plastic canister. This design effectively protects the tape’s treated edges from damage for better and more consistent results. Moreover, this feature protects the tape from moisture, nicks, and dents which usually ruin the adhesive side during storage.

While other kinds of adhesives are limited regarding usage, FrogTape® Multi-Surface Painter's Tape is adhesive to the various surface.

From the name itself, this adhesive sticks to multiple surfaces such as carpet cured painted walls, glass, metal, stone, and even on unfinished wood.

With this, you know you can use the adhesive for both interior and exterior projects.

General Tips in Using Painter’s Tape

Before you even begin a project, take note of the following simple tips for you to achieve the best possible outcome:

  • Before starting on a project, no matter how big or small it is, make sure you are going to use the correct type of tape. To start off, you can test your tape. Just press a piece onto the surface and then remove it after. Check if it damages the surface (if it does, you will notice that it removes with it an existing paint or finish). See to it that the tape does not stain on the surface also.
  • If it damages the area or takes away a portion of the area upon removal, or it does stain, it means that the adhesion level might be too strong for the surface. On the other hand, is the tape does not adhere adequately to the surface, it only means you will need adhesive with a higher-grade adhesion.
  • It may be challenging if you will be working on delicate surfaces. This includes wallpaper, freshly painted or unpainted wallboard and drywall, ceiling tiles, or masking for faux finishing. These surfaces will generally require a lower adhesion. For those tapes that are too sticky, it may be a problem in removing it as it may damage delicate surfaces.
  • If you are painting on unusual surfaces such as cured painted walls, unfinished wood and wood trim, glass, metal, and stone, choose a medium-adhesion. This kind of tape sticks to more surfaces.
  • See to it that you always start with a clean surface. You can do this by merely wiping the baseboard and trimming it to remove dust and dirt particles.  Cleaning the target surface helps the paint tape adhere for a clean, crisp edge.
  • After successfully applying the tape, run your fingers back over the edge of the adhesive to seal the edges.
  • In case you are taping off large areas, slip the roll of painter’s adhesive over your wrist to keep it close. Also, it will be easier to pull off enough amount needed to finish your work.  This is especially helpful when painting ceiling moldings and even high trim and you are on a ladder.
  • The shorter the strips of adhesive are, the easier it is to apply. Shorter strips also do not get tangled.  For easy removal, overlap the edges. When it is time to remove the tape, make sure that you start at the opposite end of where you began. This way the tape will pull away in one long piece.
  • When you are painting baseboards, you may put a row of adhesive along the baseboard at the floor. To add, use a heavy cloth.  You can place the fabric at the edge of the tape; this way it is not touching the baseboard.  As you paint the baseboard, move the material along.
